After confirming that the 18″ driver was well and truly toasted, it was important to determine the state of the horn, cross over and connectors. All were is good shape.

Under normal conditions this would be a BER (Beyond Economic Repair) but after discussing the options with Richard (he intends to use this as an addition to his Bass rig), we decided to fit and Eminence Kappa a full on 600watt driver. This balances out quite well for a bass guitar and gives Richard the headroom to shake the room. The speaker remains compact but quite a bit heavier and much more powerful.
